As a couples therapist...
I focus on issues that keep couples from experiencing the happiness of fully loving one another and being there for each other. We look to reveal what happened in the relationship that created a block or a void where the couple became disconnected and we look to rebuild that sacred connection.
As an individual therapist...
I focus on issues that keep an individual from realizing their goals and feeling truly happy and productive. Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorder, Loneliness, Unhappiness, Dissatisfaction, Lack of confidence, Low self worth. These and many more issues are explored, unpacked, understood and behavioral change is the primary focus.
As a Certified Discernment Counselor...
I work with “mixed agenda” couples where one wants to work on their relationship and the other wants to move towards divorce. This highly specialized certification enables me to help couples find their way to confidence and clarity in making fully informed decisions regarding their future and the next steps in their marriage
As a Divorce Coach Strategist...
I am credentialed as a Certified Divorce and Family Mediator, I have the proven tools and strategies to guide couples who are on the precipice of divorce or who have made the decision to split to move through the process as seamlessly as possible, I facilitate the proceedings to manage emotions, behaviors and reactions to culminate in an amicable separation and a “good divorce.”
As a Parenting Specialist...
My work as a Parenting Strategist is key with divorcing couples as I am able to provide them with strategies and behaviors targeted to minimize the impact of a divorce on children. I also guide parents to be more effective and successful in parenting their children no matter what the age. Together we set goals and develop parenting plans that work to create the relationship you desire to have with your children. One based on mutual respect and mutual love.
My prior life experience includes...
12 years experience as a Senior Executive at two major corporations, providing me with a deep understanding of business culture and the pressures of corporate life.
I am an AAMFT Approved Clinical Supervisor and have Advanced Training in (EFT) Emotionally Focused Therapy – a modality that has been demonstrated to help 70% of couples in distress. I am also a Level II Gottman Method Clinician. The Gottman method is one of the most researched protocols out there and the interventions with couples are incredibly effective.
A resident of (and licensed in) the great states of New York, Connecticut and Florida, I’ve been married to the same good man for many, many years and have two adult, recently launched, children who I worry about like most mom’s do. I experienced a great loss not long ago when my mother and father died just a few years apart. I still miss them both greatly. I see issues through the eyes of a concerned parent, a loving but sometimes harried wife, a close sister, a good but occasionally distracted friend and a dedicated professional who has gone through many of the same issues of daily living as my patients. I can definitely relate.
My work is close, collaborative, warm, compassionate and often filled with humor. I try to find the lighter, more normative side in even the worst situations. I bring to bear the skills of an experienced and highly trained therapist with a keen eye to uncover the negative patterns that keep so many of us stuck in unhappiness and dissatisfaction.
Call me a dogged optimist...
But I firmly believe – no matter what the issue of daily living is – that positive change CAN happen.
Change for an individual, or a couple stuck in a negative cycle is essential and necessary – not something to be feared but instead something to embrace. Together, in therapy, we can face life’s problems, determine goals and set out necessary next steps to create new pathways to happiness, fulfillment, satisfaction, connectedness and peace.
