Individual Therapy
Serving Westport, New Canaan, Darien, and Greenwich, CT and all surrounding areas
Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that you struggle to manage your problems? If so, you are not alone. The National Institute of Mental Health reports over a quarter of American adults experience depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders in any given year.
Some may experience significant relationship problems and concerns. Others may suffer with low mood, overwhelming anxiety, stress and worry, negative thinking and/or rumination. There may be feelings of unworthiness, lack of self confidence or issues of unbearable social anxiety. The reasons individuals come to therapy are countless but the objective is always the same – to be liberated from these problems and concerns. To be free. To learn how to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
Goals of Individual Therapy
Life can certainly be overwhelming at times and everyone at one point or another can use the help of a supportive, caring, reliable professional to guide them through the rocky waters of life.
The goal of individual therapy is to provide a safe space from which to explore your thoughts, feelings and concerns in a non judgmental environment. Together we look to improve the quality of life through self awareness, self exploration and behavioral modification.
Empower Your Journey to Healing
Most individuals come to therapy with an issue or problem that they have been struggling with unsuccessfully for a long, long time. This problem may have begun to interfere with tasks of daily living, the problems may have started to ruin relationships or may have slowly sucked the joy out of life.
My work with individuals focuses on utilizing the following modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused individual therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I also use elements of CBT, DBT, mindfulness and positivity training. I teach relaxation techniques and am a really big proponent of breath work. I am a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation and sometimes if it’s useful we will get into meditation. I use the strategies and tools that work for you to make the changes you need to make.
Approach
After we get to know one another and feel comfortable together, my primary goal is to deeply understand how the problem we are looking to change functions. I uncover the history of the problem and how it is maintained. Once we understand how the problem works, together we will craft a response, utilizing tools and strategies to change the problematic dynamics and move to healthy behavioral change. Each week we meet we will review what we tried and we will analyze what worked and what didn’t – we will change our plan and focus, as needed, until the problem has been eliminated or successfully moderated.
Our goal is to get you out of a repetitive and stuck mode to a place where you feel freer, healthier and happier overall.

Anxiety, Depression and Mood Disorders are sticky webs that patients get caught in and don’t know how to find their way out of.
Our work together is geared quite simply to create a happier, more productive you.
